    Great video. What do you do if the driver side is playing up? Can you put the same actuator like you put on all other doors? Because mine has 3 malfunction door the left front and rear and the driver side. The rear right door is working...Well at least for now...

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy 19 дней назад

      The actuators are made to be universal. Due to their one size fits all nature it can be fiddly to get them working reliably but if you can make it work on the back door it should work on the front doors too.

      @dingeldiy 15 дней назад

      @@davywirapranata4911 they can be a good indication but the drivers door lock is the master and the other door locks are slaves generally speaking. that way if the drivers door unlocks, they all unlock. it would be best practice to test with a multimeter.

One question, being from a differnt continent: Whats the benefit of settig a house on stumps instead of a concrete foundation? Price, ventilation and temperature handeling?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy Месяц назад

      I wasn't planning on doing this work as I mentioned in the video! Working as a sole-trader you learn to say yes to everything. Yeah you pretty much nailed it. It's cheaper, keeps the house cooler during hot Australian summers. Less likely to flood, good access to services from underneath for maintenance and alterations. You don't see it anymore in new construction here but it's very common practice with decking, renovations and restorations.

    We are stuck on the crank bolt. Need to do this job because I think we messed up the timing as the the cam gear moved when trying to undo the nut. Frustrated beyond belief and wish I had left it to the pros!

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy Месяц назад

      if the bottom end timing is correct then all you need to do is remove the timing belt, set everything to tdc (the injection pump gear, crank pulley and cam gears) and put the timing belt back on. As always, turn the engine over by hand a few cycles to make sure you got it right.

  • @maxcoogan8178

    Hello dingle, thanks for the videos they are great, i am currently undergoing the timing on my 1kzte kzn185 at first everything seemed okay until i got to the cam shaft nut, we managed to block the cam and remove it but maybe it moved ever so slightly as my timing is now out... So now im on to this video :o). However im not sure if before I start wether I should have my camshaft and gear on TDC with the marks aligned before adjusting the helicon gears below? I saw also during this video once you install the cambelt you crank it slightly to adjust the camshaft ?? :o haha cheers

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy Месяц назад

      without the timing belt installed the top end (head and cams) and the bottom end aren't linked or connected. you can time the helical gears without the cams and their gears in the correct positions. hell, you can time the bottom end with out a cylinder head installed. When it comes time to install the timing belt make sure your injection pump gear, cam gears and main pulley are aligned to their respective TDC marks. In the video I slightly adjust my camshaft as it wasn't perfectly aligned with TDC

    • @dingeldiy

      A pest controller can use a thermal camera to check for active termites. If they're inactive one way to check for damage is to knock on the timber framing to see if it sounds hollow or solid.

    How do you tighten the crankshaft bolt without turning the crankshaft?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy Месяц назад

      The usual diy method is to tighten it when the engine is in the car and bolted to the gearbox. Put it in gear with the handbrake on and you should be able to torque it down. Another method is to put rope down the injector hole on the cylinder head (when the piston is on the power stroke so you don't bend valves) If you cram enough rope in, when it gets compressed it will stop the crank from spinning and you can tighten it that way. Or just send it with an Impact gun (then double check when it's back in the car and bolted to the rest of the drivetrain)

      @andrewdanckert266 Месяц назад

      @@dingeldiy sure, firstly I love that you followed the 250/1200/250 rule for installing the top hat, I’ve seen professionals install the bottom batten at around 400mm because they were just lazy. - you used some black bitumen sealer instead of Pink CSR Base Sealer specifically designed for Hebel Panels - you used Tile Adhesive instead of CSR Hebel thinset adhesive - panels <2700mm require only 3 battens, but anything bigger than that requires 4 battens minimum - perhaps the biggest mistake is that you have control/movement joints on the same batten. Where there is a movement joint between 2 panels there must also be a break in the top hat to allow for movement; see table 3.6.2.2 of hebel installation guide for illustration - you used 100mm bugle screws where hebel say to use 14-10x90mm hex head type 17 screw to avoid panel pull out over time - suspended panels may require additional top hat where there is no concrete rebate to sit the panels on - can’t see enough adhesive squeezing out of joints which indicates insufficient amount of adhesive (my opinion) Not as many as I thought off the top of my head - overall I’ve seen “professionals” do a lot worse. Biggest one was the top hat across a control joint

    What hard wood do you use?

      Vic ash or Tassie oak. If its a door/window sill sometimes I use merbau. Generally speaking it's good to match the replacement timber to the original timber.

    Awesome video! Any chance you would sell the files for the laser cutting of the brackets?

      Unfortunately they're not mine to sell! Hopefully you can take the measurements from the video and do it that way!
